Ordinary Habit

A Table in Summer Puzzle by Josephine Rais

$20.00

A snapshot of a richly laid table that immediately transports us back to summer. As we head into a new season, this is a beautiful reminder of times we’re able to gather outdoors with our nearest and dearest.

Artist Josephine Rais is a freelance illustrator and strategic designer living and working in Berlin, Germany. Along with her work as co-founder of the design collective TheBoysClub Berlin, Rais illustrates magazines, books, advertisements, social media, and brand packaging. Her signature brightly colored characters and flowing forms are born of inspiration from everything that surrounds and challenges her. “My illustrations are snapshots, or fragments of them, that evoke emotions in me.”

A Table in Summer is a tribute to those little moments in life that seem so ordinary at first glance, and yet are so precious. A richly laid table, surrounded by friends, who’ve gathered together on a warm summer evening. The year 2020 in particular has reminded me of the value of social interaction. For me, sharing a meal together is the ultimate symbol of community, friendship, and quality of life. Sometimes it takes a moment of being alone to rediscover these virtues." — Josephine Rais

Ordinary Habit was founded with a simple purpose: to create artful objects, designed to be both fun and functional, that would help people access habitual moments of calm and connectedness. Founders Teresa and Echo Hopkins, a mother-daughter duo, believed in the transformative nature of something perfectly ordinary: daily play. They set out to create a debut product that would be simple to use, beautiful to look at, and easy to transport: a series of limited edition jigsaw puzzles that would function as both reason to gather together with friends and as an escape for individuals in search of quietude.

Ordinary Habit is building a company focused on the belief that cultivating mindfulness is essential to bring about indelible change. In continued support of their mission, they will be donating on a monthly basis to groups that support the emotional and mental wellness of Black and marginalized communities. As a start, Ordinary Habit donates to The Loveland Foundation, which brings opportunity and healing to Black women and girls.
